Crime Stoppers – Communication Strategy

Crime Stoppers engaged LOTE to develop a communication tool that addressed the sensitive issue of sexual abuse within tertiary institutions. LOTE designed and developed a short animation to reach the target audience using social media platforms, which was then translated into four languages and provided with in-language audio dubbing as well as subtitles (to assist people watching it without sound).

With the intention of reducing any potential stigma, the animated characters were developed without any clear cultural physical characteristics. To further support the awareness campaign, in-language DL brochures were designed and developed to be distributed during Orientation Week for the start of the school year.

 

Campaign achievements and outcomes

With a small budget, and the desire to reach CALD students as effectively as possible, Crime Stoppers were impressed with LOTE’s innovative animation solution. Furthermore, this project was completed to extremely tight time frames, to enable Crime Stoppers to launch their campaign in time for O Week across Victorian universities.
